Closing the Availability Gate

Turning modelled 0.86-to-0.995 availability into trusted uptime requires operating hours, redundancy, and honest positioning against Tier III.

Availability is earned, not designed

The 30–100x uptime gap against Tier III (0.99982) cannot be closed on paper. It is closed by accumulating operating hours that reveal failure modes, then engineering them out. A first-of-a-kind machine has none of those hours yet.

Engineering levers

Honest positioning

Even improved, an early burner is best paired with the grid or storage rather than sold as a sole Tier-III source. Claiming otherwise would contradict the model. The goal for 2032–2036 is credible, characterised availability — not a Tier-III guarantee on unproven hardware.

The honest core of this roadmap is that availability cannot be argued up; it must be measured up. Redundancy and modular replacement buy uptime immediately, but the 30–100x gap against Tier III only closes as fleet hours reveal and remove failure modes. Until that record exists, positioning Aegis as anything other than a paired source would contradict our own model.
