Operations Staffing Model
A lean, qualified crew runs Aegis across control-room, field, and maintenance roles with clear responsibility and coverage.
Aegis is designed to run with a lean, highly qualified crew. The staffing model defines the roles needed to operate and maintain the plant safely and continuously: control-room operators, field operators, maintenance specialists, radiological and safety staff, and engineering support, with coverage across all shifts.
Core roles
- Control-room operators monitor the machine and direct operations
- Field operators perform rounds and local actions
- Maintenance specialists cover mechanical, electrical, and cryogenic work
- Radiological and safety staff manage dose and hazards
Coverage
Because the plant runs continuously and its support systems (cryogenics, vacuum) never stop, staffing provides round-the-clock coverage of the essential functions, with on-call engineering and specialist support for events. Shift rotation is designed to sustain alertness and qualification.
Lean by design
Automation, condition monitoring, and remote handling reduce the routine workload, letting a smaller crew maintain the plant safely — fitting the sovereign, self-sufficient nature of a fixed installation. The staffing model is developed at design stage and validated as the first test burner is operated.
