Fire & Hazard Protection
Detection, suppression, and hazard controls address fire, cryogenic, high-voltage, and oxygen-deficiency risks across the plant.
A fusion installation carries conventional and specialized hazards: fire, high-voltage electrical energy, cryogenic systems, oxygen-deficiency from helium, and stored magnetic energy. Fire and hazard protection detects, isolates, and mitigates these so an initiating event does not cascade.

Cryogenic and oxygen-deficiency
Large helium inventories create an oxygen-deficiency hazard if released into an enclosed space. Oxygen monitoring, ventilation, and access controls protect personnel in the cryogenic zone. Cryogenic surfaces and lines are guarded against cold-contact injury and brittle failure.
Electrical and magnetic
High-voltage power-conversion and distribution use isolation, arc-flash control, and grounding. The magnets' stored energy is managed through controlled discharge and access interlocks. Hazard protection is engineered at design stage against the frozen machine and integrated with the overall safety systems.
