Grid & Islanded Interconnection

Aegis can tie to a grid or run islanded, delivering firm power through the direct converter and power-conditioning chain.

Direct energy conversion in the tandem mirror produces electrical power from the expanding plasma stream at the DEC end. That output is conditioned and then delivered either to a grid interconnection or to an islanded load. Both modes are designed in from the start because sovereign, resilient supply is the point of a fixed installation.

Grid-tied operation

When tied to a grid, Aegis synchronizes and delivers firm output within the interconnection agreement's protection and power-quality requirements. Switchgear, protection relaying, and metering are standard balance-of-plant scope, sized to the conditioned output rating.

Islanded operation

For resilient installation power, Aegis can supply a defined islanded load independent of an external grid. Islanded operation requires the plant to manage its own house load, frequency, and voltage, and to ride through or gracefully shed load during disturbances. This is central to the sovereign-power mission.

House load and startup power

Interconnection studies and islanding controls are engineered against the frozen machine at design stage; no net-power hardware operation is claimed before the first test burner.
