Supply-Chain Readiness
A MetroVolt fleet depends on suppliers for high-field magnets, cryogenics, DEC hardware, and helium-3 — some mature, some to be built.
What a fleet needs to be built from
Delivering many MetroVolt units requires a supply chain: superconducting-magnet manufacturing, cryogenic systems, precision structures, direct-conversion hardware, power electronics, and fuel. Some of these are established industries; others, notably high-field HTS magnets at volume and helium-3 at fleet scale, are constrained.
How the breeder helps
The breeder program develops magnet and cryogenics supply first, seeding those chains before the burner needs them. That is another reason for building the breeder first — it matures shared suppliers. The burner-specific chains (DEC hardware, fleet-scale helium-3) still need deliberate development.
- Mature: cryogenics, vacuum, power electronics.
- Constrained: high-field magnet volume, DEC hardware, helium-3.
- Breeder seeds the shared magnet and cryogenics suppliers.
