Where MetroVolt Stands Today

MetroVolt is a design and simulation study of the Kronos burner — no MetroVolt unit has been built, and no net-power hardware exists yet.

Honest status

MetroVolt is the data-center and city housing of the Kronos burner (Aegis / MetroVolt), a D-³He tandem-mirror generator. It shares the same core as Aegis: a 26.49 T plug, a 17 T throat, a neutron fraction near 5.44%, and direct energy conversion. Today that machine exists as physics models, reproducible simulations, and engineering studies — not as operating hardware.

The Kronos program builds the breeder (Hyperion) first. Breeder construction begins Q2 2027, with first-of-a-kind first tritium near 2030. The burner follows as a test unit near 2032, with a commercial fleet targeted near 2036. MetroVolt is perfected in simulation while the breeder is built.

What we claim, and what we do not

We claim a computed, reproducible design point and a credible development path. We do not claim a demonstrated net-electric burner, a built MetroVolt unit, or that any date is guaranteed. Where physics or engineering is unresolved, we say so on the relevant page.
