What the Breeder Proves for the Burner

The breeder program de-risks magnets, cryogenics, controls, manufacturing, and helium-3 supply — each of which the burner inherits.

The handoff

The burner does not start from zero in 2032. The breeder’s construction and operation from 2027 onward produce concrete, transferable results. The handoff is the reason the burner test unit is credible on that timeline.

What still does not transfer

Some burner physics is genuinely new. The tandem-mirror confinement, the 26.49 T plug, and direct energy conversion have no breeder analogue and must be proven on the burner’s own path. The breeder reduces engineering and operational risk; it does not resolve the burner’s core confinement question.

This is why the burner has its own gate list even after the breeder succeeds — shared foundations, distinct core physics.
