Firm, not fast
Aegis is a firm source: it aims to hold a steady output around the clock, independent of weather or time of day. It is not a fast-ramping peaker. A fusion plasma changes operating point on the timescale of its control systems, not in milliseconds, so the installation pairs firm generation with faster resources to follow load.
Division of labour
Firm baseload comes from Aegis. Fast transients — a large load switching on, the islanding swap — are absorbed by storage. Sustained demand changes are met by dispatching more or fewer units and by managing deferrable load. This layered approach gives the installation both stability and responsiveness without asking the plasma to do something it cannot.

Weather independence
