Wood gave way to coal, coal shared the stage with oil and gas, and low-carbon sources are now growing alongside all of them. A realistic view of fusion places it in this pattern: a source that, if it works, joins the mix over decades rather than replacing anything overnight.
This tempers both hope and impatience. It is why we describe the breeder's timeline concretely — construction from Q2 2027, FOAK first tritium around 2030, then NOAK and BOAK — and refuse to imply a finished fleet is near. It is also why the near-term climate work of renewables, efficiency, and grids matters regardless of how fusion progresses.
