What Fusion Cannot Fix

An honest mission names its limits; here are human problems fusion does not solve, even if every gate closes.

Limits are part of honesty

A mission that only lists benefits is a sales pitch. Building for humanity means also stating plainly what fusion cannot do, so no one over-relies on it. Even a fully working fusion plant would leave most human problems untouched.

Beyond fusion's reach

• It does not distribute power fairly — ownership and policy decide that
• It does not remove carbon already in the atmosphere
• It does not fix water, soil, or biodiversity loss directly
• It does not resolve conflict, poverty, or governance failures
• It does not deliver near-term energy access; those needs are for today's technologies

And there are limits within fusion itself. The machines are design and simulation studies. The burner faces gates we state without softening: plug coils overstressed roughly 3 to 3.9 times at the design bore, an operating regime 166 to 830 times beyond any existing device, helium-3 demand about 400 times domestic supply, and availability short of Tier III by 30 to 100 times. These are physics findings, not economics.
