Safeguards by Design

Transparency, accountancy, and nonproliferation controls are engineered into the facility, not retrofitted.

Build it in, don't bolt it on

Retrofitting safeguards onto a finished facility is expensive and unconvincing. Kronos designs safeguards in from the start: material accountancy, containment and surveillance, and transparent declarations are treated as design requirements alongside performance and safety. This is the same philosophy as safety-by-design and security-by-design, applied to nonproliferation.

Why it strengthens readiness

A design that is safeguards-friendly from the outset is more licensable, more partnerable, and more resilient to the trust questions any nuclear-adjacent facility faces. It also makes the nonproliferation commitment credible: the commitment is embodied in hardware and records, not just in a statement of intent. Kronos discusses safeguards-by-design at the level of principle and design intent; it does not publish sensitive specifics, consistent with the responsible-disclosure posture.

Designing for verification is, in the end, designing for trust.
