A scarce capability, offered responsibly

The breeder produces 14 MeV neutrons — the fusion-spectrum neutrons that are scarce and valuable for testing how materials, electronics, and sensors behave under fusion-relevant irradiation. This is a genuine national capability gap that a fusion source can help fill, and Kronos treats access to it as something to be governed, not simply sold.

Why it belongs in readiness

Fusion structural-materials qualification is bottlenecked worldwide by the scarcity of 14 MeV neutron sources; the breeder's own neutrons are therefore both a product and a tool for retiring one of the field's central gates. Offering that capability responsibly — controlled, transparent, civilian-first — is part of the dual-use posture. Kronos states the capability at the level of principle; it does not disclose specific defense uses, name affiliations, or make availability claims ahead of the breeder's demonstrated operation.
