The Vision

The Healed Planet

The endgame is not merely lower emissions but a biosphere given the energy and the room to recover.

Vision, not specification. This page describes a future that fusion could help make possible — not a product promise, forecast, or performance claim. The Kronos machines today are design and simulation studies: the breeder (Hyperion) and the burner (Aegis / MetroVolt). No hardware net-gain has been demonstrated; construction of the first breeder is planned to begin in Q2 2027, with first-of-a-kind first tritium targeted around 2030.

From doing less harm to doing repair

Most climate action so far has been about subtraction: emit less, use less, disturb less. Necessary, but subtraction alone leaves a damaged system to heal on its own. Abundant clean energy opens a second mode — active repair — because restoration is itself energy-intensive. Pulling carbon back out of the air, desalinating water to green arid land, and running clean industry all cost energy that has to come from somewhere clean.

A healed planet, in this vision, is one where the flows finally point the right way: forests expanding rather than shrinking, aquifers refilling, air clearing over cities, and the ocean chemistry stabilizing. None of that is fusion’s achievement alone. It is what becomes affordable in energy terms when firm clean power is abundant.

What repair needs

Honesty about the horizon

This is a multi-decade picture and Kronos does not pretend otherwise. The machines are design studies; the first breeder is planned to start construction in Q2 2027; a recovering biosphere is the work of a generation beyond that. Naming the endgame is a way of aiming, not a way of claiming it is near.

The point is directional. If clean firm energy stops being scarce, ecological repair moves from something we cannot afford to something we can. That shift — from managed decline to active recovery — is the whole of the vision. Continue to restoring nature and energy and biodiversity.
