The Endgame: A Balanced World

The destination is not a utopia but a balance — an advanced society and a recovering planet, held together by clean firm power.

Vision, not specification. This page describes a future that fusion could help make possible — not a product promise, forecast, or performance claim. The Kronos machines today are design and simulation studies: the breeder (Hyperion) and the burner (Aegis / MetroVolt). No hardware net-gain has been demonstrated; construction of the first breeder is planned to begin in Q2 2027, with first-of-a-kind first tritium targeted around 2030.

Balance, not paradise

It would be easy, and wrong, to end this section with a promise of paradise. The honest endgame is more modest and more durable: a balance. A civilization that keeps advancing — in computation, medicine, mobility, and comfort — while the living systems it depends on recover rather than decline. Two curves that used to trade against each other, finally moving the same way.

Everything in this section converges here. Abundant clean energy lifts the ceilings that scarcity imposed; firm clean power retires combustion; compact generation returns land to nature; clean water and carbon drawdown make active repair affordable. None of it is fusion alone, and none of it is guaranteed. All of it is what becomes possible if clean firm energy stops being scarce.

Why it is worth the work

The near-term engineering — a spherical tokamak breeder, a tandem-mirror burner, dates and design numbers with their conditions attached — can look narrow next to a picture this large. The picture is why the narrow work matters. Each milestone is a step toward a world that does not force a choice between human flourishing and a living planet.

The standing commitment

Begin again at the vision, or revisit the limits in what we don’t claim.
