The Generational Project
Building the clean-energy foundation is the work of more than one career; naming that honestly is part of taking it seriously.
Vision, not specification. This page describes a future that fusion could help make possible — not a product promise, forecast, or performance claim. The Kronos machines today are design and simulation studies: the breeder (Hyperion) and the burner (Aegis / MetroVolt). No hardware net-gain has been demonstrated; construction of the first breeder is planned to begin in Q2 2027, with first-of-a-kind first tritium targeted around 2030.
Longer than a career
Some projects are finished by the people who start them. This one is not. Bringing fusion from design studies to a fleet of plants, and then to the abundance this section describes, spans more time than any single working life. Pretending otherwise would be a form of dishonesty — the kind that erodes trust when the fast timeline fails to arrive.
So Kronos states it plainly: this is a generational project. The near-term milestones are real and dated — construction planned for Q2 2027, first tritium targeted around 2030 — but the endgame is a relay handed across generations of engineers, scientists, and builders. Each generation’s job is to move the work honestly to the next.
Why say so
There is a temptation in ambitious technology to promise soon and often, because urgency raises attention. The cost is credibility. A project that is candid about its timescale can be trusted on its near-term claims precisely because it is not overselling the far ones. Honesty about the horizon is the price of being believed about the milestone.
