The Contradictions Register
Where the breeder record contains an unresolved tension or an open reconciliation, it is listed here rather than smoothed over, so a reader sees the seams.
A place for the unresolved
No large design study is perfectly self-consistent while its physics is still maturing. The breeder (Hyperion) record keeps a register of the tensions it has not resolved, so they are visible in one place instead of being discovered by a careful reader as apparent inconsistencies.
| open item | status |
|---|---|
| local vs net TBR at target 1.8 | open reconciliation |
| tritium self-sufficiency | design target, not proven |
| center-post lifetime (~0.01 fpy) | engineering gate, uncertain |
| low-A negative-triangularity confinement | thin validation data |
| transport model behind Q_sci 3.076 | softest link, FOAK-tested |
How an item enters and leaves
- Enters when reproduction, review, or internal analysis finds an unresolved tension.
- Carries a plain-language statement and a current status.
- Leaves only when a specific analysis or FOAK measurement closes it — with the closing evidence cited.
- A closed item is archived, not deleted, so the history is preserved.
Why publish this at all
A register of contradictions is the opposite of a marketing document, and that is the point. It tells a reader precisely where the design is still soft, which is the information a serious reviewer most wants. Each item links to its own page — the TBR reconciliation and the center-post gate among them — where the tension is described in full.
The register is deliberately not a bug tracker of typos; it lists tensions that could change a conclusion. That threshold keeps it short and meaningful. A reader who wants the fastest honest read of where the breeder design is still soft can start here and follow the links, rather than reconstructing the open questions from scattered caveats across the rest of the record.
This page describes a design-and-simulation study, not a built machine. Construction of the breeder (Hyperion) begins Q2 2027; first-of-a-kind first tritium is targeted near 2030. No hardware net-gain claim is made before FOAK.
