Grid Support and Export When Available

An installation that generates its own power can also support or export to the surrounding grid when it is healthy, adding regional resilience.

A two-way benefit

Sovereign power is usually framed as independence from the grid, but the relationship can be two-way. When the commercial grid is healthy, an installation with surplus generation can support or export to it, strengthening regional resilience — and when the grid fails, the installation islands and carries itself.

How it works

Honest limits

Export is a benefit only when there is genuine surplus, and mission power always has priority: the installation never exports at the expense of its own continuity. And with availability at 0.86–0.995, the base cannot be counted on as a firm grid resource without its own redundancy. Export is opportunistic support, not a committed grid service.

This capability adds value beyond the fence line — a resilient installation can be a good neighbour to the regional grid — while the sovereignty and continuity of the mission remain the first priority. It is presented as an option enabled by on-site generation, bounded by the same honest availability figure that governs everything else.
