Aegis is the fixed-installation housing of the burner: a sovereign, on-site power concept for defense sites, not a naval or mobile system.
Fixed, not naval
Aegis is one of two housings for the same underlying burner, a deuterium-helium-3 tandem-mirror generator. Aegis is intended for fixed defense installations: sited, stationary facilities. It is explicitly not a naval or mobile system. The value proposition is sovereign on-site power that minimizes dependence on the grid and on short-cycle fuel resupply.
At a fixed installation, the machine's size, magnet systems, and support infrastructure are compatible with a permanent site in a way they are not with a vehicle or vessel. The logistics benefit, a long resupply interval from energy-dense fuel, applies directly: fewer convoys into the site, less exposure, more continuity.
The gates apply in full
Aegis inherits all four burner honest gates: the plug coil is overstressed roughly 3-3.9x at the design bore; the plug operating regime is 166-830x beyond any existing device; helium-3 fuel demand is ~400x domestic supply per commercial unit; and availability is 0.86-0.995 against a hyperscale Tier III standard of 0.99982. Aegis is a design-and-simulation study, not a fielded generator.

Aegis being fixed rather than mobile is a deliberate scoping choice, not a limitation to apologize for. Fixed siting is what makes the machine's magnet systems, support infrastructure, and rare protected resupply tractable, and fixed installations are precisely the high-value sites where sovereign power matters most. The concept is honest about what it is: sited prime power for stationary facilities, gated by the burner physics.
