The Fleet Plan

The breeder plan is a small number of foundry units, not a large power fleet; scale is set by isotope demand, not by megawatts.

A small, deliberate fleet

The breeder is not planned as a growing fleet of power stations. It is planned as a small number of foundry units, enough to meet an isotope and neutron supply requirement. The fleet is sized to demand for tritium, helium-3, and neutron services, not to an energy market.

Why small

Each unit produces a tritium-class output near 4 kg/yr and a helium-3 coproduct near 1.97 kg/yr. A few units cover a large fraction of realistic near-term demand for these materials. Building more than the supply requires would serve no purpose, because the product is material with a bounded market, not electricity with open demand.

Relationship to the burner

The breeder foundry also supplies fuel to the future burner (Aegis / MetroVolt): tritium now, and helium-3 over time. The breeder fleet and the burner fleet are different in character, the breeder a small foundry, the burner a larger energy fleet gated on separate physics and on lunar helium-3 supply, and they are planned separately.

The fleet plan describes intended deployment of a machine not yet built. It carries no capacity or cost projections, only the supply-driven logic for keeping the breeder fleet small.
