The geopolitics of scarce fuel

Conventional energy is entangled with geography. Oil, gas, uranium, and the minerals for batteries are concentrated in specific regions, which creates chokepoints, dependencies, and leverage. Much of the world's energy diplomacy exists because the fuel is scarce and unevenly distributed.

What changes when fuel is everywhere

Deuterium is present in all seawater and freshwater, and the helium-3 and tritium a plant needs are bred on site from lithium and water. No importable ore or refined fuel sits at the center of the supply chain. A country can fuel its plants from its own water, which turns energy security into a question of building capacity rather than securing deposits.

Security through abundance

Abundance as a strategic property

Scarcity is what gives a fuel geopolitical weight; a resource that can be withheld can be used as leverage. A fuel drawn from every ocean and bred inside the plant cannot be cornered, embargoed, or monopolized. Removing that leverage does not merely lower cost pressure — it changes the strategic character of energy from a contest over deposits into a question of who chooses to build.
