Siting follows load, not water
Conventional firm plants are often sited where water and fuel are, then linked to demand by long transmission lines. MetroVolt's near-zero cooling-water need removes the water anchor, so it can be placed near the load it serves, a data-center campus, a city district, or an industrial site.
What load-adjacent siting gains

Why water is the enabler
None of this is possible if the generator must sit beside a river or draw a cooling-tower water supply the load site cannot provide. Removing the steam cycle removes that constraint, letting the generator and the load share a site chosen for the load. Water is the hidden variable that has kept firm generation away from load, and direct energy conversion releases it.
Honest boundaries
Siting still involves land, safety, permitting, and grid rules, and MetroVolt is not yet built. The claim is bounded: eliminating the cooling-water requirement removes one of the strongest historical reasons firm generation could not be placed next to the load it serves.
