Measurement Tools in the Model

Point-to-point, radial, and layer-thickness measurement tools let you read true dimensions directly off the geometry.

Measuring the design

Because the geometry is the design geometry, measurements taken in the model are real design dimensions, not artistic approximations. The model provides three measurement tools that cover the questions engineers actually ask of a machine like this.

Point-to-point

Kronos motion — operating point

The basic tool drops two points and reports the straight-line distance in SI units. Snapping to component surfaces and edges makes it reliable: you can measure the bore of a coil or the span of a vessel port and get the design value, not a hand-eyed guess.

Radial and axial

Layer thickness

In cutaway view, a layer tool reads the thickness of each shell at the cut face: first wall, blanket, shield, vessel. These are the numbers that drive the neutronics, so being able to measure them directly closes the loop between the picture and the physics behind the tritium breeding ratio of 1.8.

Trusting the readout

Every measurement resolves against the frozen design record, so two users measuring the same feature get the same number. This is the practical payoff of a physics-computable model: the ruler and the design agree by construction. For how positions are framed, see Coordinate Systems.
