Aegis is the burner packaged for fixed defense installations, the same tandem-mirror generator in a site-hardened enclosure.
One machine, one role
Aegis is the burner configured for fixed defense installations. It is not a different reactor; it is the same deuterium-helium-3 tandem-mirror generator, with the same central cell, plugs, expanders, and converters, packaged and hardened for a fixed defense site. Aegis is a fixed installation, not a naval system.
What the housing addresses
- Site hardening and protection appropriate to a defense installation.
- Integration with the power needs of a fixed base.
- The layout and services a permanent site requires.
- The same core physics as the MetroVolt housing.
Housing versus machine
The distinction the model draws is between the machine and its housing. The tandem-mirror generator is common; Aegis and MetroVolt differ in the enclosure, siting, and balance-of-plant around that common core. This is why the naming keeps the function, burner, primary and treats Aegis and MetroVolt as housings of it rather than as separate machines.
In the model
Selecting the Aegis housing wraps the burner in its site-appropriate enclosure while leaving the internal machine identical to the MetroVolt view. Switching between housings changes the packaging you see, not the plug field of 26.49 T or the 5.44 percent neutron fraction, which belong to the machine.
