Accelerating the Design Cycle

Computing compresses the loop from idea to evaluated design from months to days, so more ideas get tested and better ones survive.

The design loop

Engineering progresses by cycles: propose a design, evaluate it, learn from the result, and revise. The speed of that loop sets how much of the design space a team can explore. A slow loop forces early commitment to a few ideas; a fast loop lets many be tested and the weak ones discarded.

Automated model generation removes the hand-building step. HPC and surrogates cut run times. Automated analysis and verification remove manual steps. Consistent tooling makes every candidate comparable. The loop that once took months runs in days.

A faster loop means more candidates evaluated, which is the point of exploring the 25,000+ configuration space. It also means design decisions can be revisited when new information arrives, rather than being locked in early because re-evaluation was too costly.
