Carried at Zero: The Unpriced Neutron Stream

One of the breeder's products has no market price anywhere in the world — so the programme books it at zero.

Hyperion's 14 MeV neutron beam-hours are a real product with a real use — materials qualification — but no established market price exists for them anywhere in the world. The programme carries this stream at zero and sweeps it, never banking speculative value.

The science

Fusion-spectrum neutron irradiation is a genuine capability Hyperion provides, but beam-hours for 14 MeV neutron testing are unpriced — there is no market benchmark to value them against. Rather than invent a price, the programme books the stream at zero and treats any future value as upside outside the base case.

Why it matters

Booking an unpriced product at zero is the conservative, honest treatment: it keeps the breeder's case from resting on a number no market has ever set. If a neutron-irradiation market emerges, it is pure upside; the base case does not depend on it.
