The Record: Deposits & DOIs

This is the bibliography of this book — and it is an unusual one. It does not point you to other people's papers to take on trust. It points you to our own work, deposited open-access, with a permanent identifier on each item, so that every quantitative claim in these pages can be traced to a durable artifact you can open, read, and rerun. A citation you cannot check is a decoration. Every entry here, you can check.

Each deposit carries a DOI — a digital object identifier, a permanent address that resolves to the artifact no matter how web pages come and go. Read a DOI as a URL by putting `https://doi.org/` in front of it. Scan the code beside a deposit to go straight there.

FIG_DEPOSITS_QR
Figure. The five foundational deposits, by subject. Scan any code, or resolve its DOI at `https://doi.org/`, to open the artifact and check the numbers in this book against the record they come from.

How this catalog maps to the book

The Simulation Register lists each headline result by ID (S1, B1, L1, R1, D1, A1, and their siblings). Every one of those IDs was computed in an artifact deposited above. To go from a sentence to its source: find the number, find its register ID, and open the deposit whose subject matches. The physics chapters draw on the breeder, burner, magnet, and materials deposits; the intelligence chapters draw on the AI-and-control deposit.

Standing entry for new results

The 2025–2026 program results are being deposited into the same open catalog under the same scheme as they are finalized. When a figure in this book is superseded by a later deposit, the standing-corrections note records the change, and the deposit — not the printed page — is the version of record. That is the whole discipline of an honest book like this: the book is dated, but the record it points to stays live.
