Edge Coherent Modes

Benign edge fluctuations that exhaust energy without large ELMs.

Certain quasi- or weakly-coherent edge modes continuously exhaust pedestal energy in small amounts, avoiding large ELMs. They appear in ELM-free regimes attractive for divertor protection.
