Ohmic Heating

Heating from the plasma's own resistance to its current — effective only while the plasma is cool.

Driving current through a resistive plasma heats it, just like a filament. Because resistivity falls with temperature, ohmic heating alone cannot reach fusion temperatures, so machines add neutral beams and radio-frequency heating.
