No-Insulation Coils

A REBCO winding technique that improves stability by omitting turn insulation.

No-insulation (or partially-insulated) REBCO coils let current redistribute around a local defect or hot spot, improving stability and quench tolerance, at the cost of slower charging. It is an active magnet-technology choice.
