Liquid-Metal Divertor

A self-healing divertor surface of flowing liquid metal.

Flowing liquid metal (such as lithium) as a divertor surface can tolerate high heat flux and self-heal erosion, an alternative to solid tungsten. It is an active research direction for the exhaust problem.
