Geodesic Acoustic Mode

An oscillating branch of zonal flow seen in the plasma edge.

The geodesic acoustic mode is an oscillating cousin of the zonal flow, part of the turbulence-regulation machinery in the plasma edge. It appears in turbulence measurements and simulations.
