Alfvén Wave

A fundamental magnetohydrodynamic wave travelling along magnetic field lines.

Alfvén waves are transverse oscillations of the magnetic field and plasma together, travelling along field lines. They underlie several fast-ion instabilities and are a basic building block of plasma dynamics.
