Professor of Photon Science at Stanford and Director of HED Science at SLAC. Former head of the Plasma Physics Group at LLNL, where he oversaw early inertial-confinement-fusion experiments at NIF; author of 400+ publications and the textbook 'Plasma Scattering of Electromagnetic Radiation'.
