
Fifty years in superconducting magnet design. An MIT Francis Bitter Magnet Lab veteran who designed the Alcator series tokamaks — including Alcator A, which earned a Guinness World Record for the strongest steady-state magnetic field — and led ultra-high-field magnet work at INESCO. He invented the internally-supported ohmic-heating coil.
