Design the cryogenic systems that keep the superconducting magnets cold, stable, and safe.
About the role
High-field HTS magnets only work if the cryogenic system does. You'll design the cooling, thermal-management, and cryogenic distribution for the magnet systems, and integrate them with the machine's thermal and vacuum architecture.
What you'll do
- Design cryogenic cooling and distribution for the HTS magnet systems.
- Model thermal loads, margins, and steady-state / transient behavior.
- Specify cryoplant, cryostat, and thermal-shield requirements.
- Integrate cryogenics with magnets, structures, and vacuum.
- Plan for quench thermal response and safety.
- Own cryogenic instrumentation and controls interfaces.
What you bring
- Experience in cryogenic engineering for superconducting systems.
- Strong heat-transfer and thermodynamics fundamentals.
- Familiarity with cryoplants, cryostats, and helium systems.
- Systems mindset and safety-first judgment.
- Bonus: large-scale (accelerator / fusion) cryogenic experience.
Compensation
