Build the AI-native control stack that runs the plant — digital twin, real-time control, and the assurance that keeps it safe.
About the role
KRONOS-CTRL is the intelligence that will run the machine: a predictive digital twin, a microsecond control loop, and a safety envelope that bounds every action. You'll build the models and the guardrails, and advance the roadmap of capabilities that make an autonomous plant trustworthy.
What you'll do
- Develop models — PINNs, GNNs, MPC, anomaly-detection ensembles — inside the digital twin.
- Engineer the real-time control loop and the deterministic safety clamp.
- Advance the assurance roadmap: conformal prediction, OOD gating, runtime assurance.
- Build evaluation harnesses so models are trusted before they touch hardware.
- Integrate control with data, orchestration, and human oversight.
- Keep the honest line between validated behavior and extrapolation.
What you bring
- Strong machine-learning and control-theory background.
- Excellent software engineering and reproducibility discipline.
- Real-time and/or safety-critical systems experience a plus.
- Care for correctness, uncertainty, and safety.
- Bonus: scientific ML, RL, or plasma/robotics control.
Compensation
Compensation discussed early in the process; California pay range provided on request.
