What would prove the Kronos design wrong?

Specific, pre-registered results would. If the G1 testbed shows negative-triangularity confinement below the required threshold, the design must be re-sized — and Kronos would publish it.

A design that can't be proven wrong isn't science. Kronos makes its falsification conditions explicit through the Falsifiable Seven and the gates, with the confinement bet as the load-bearing one.

Is the Kronos design falsifiable?
Yes — deliberately. Kronos pre-registers seven predictions (the Falsifiable Seven) with specific numerical thresholds, each tested at a gate. If a result comes in below threshold, the prediction is refuted, and Kronos commits to publishing that outcome.
Give a concrete example.
Prediction P1 is that negative-triangularity confinement reaches H98 ≥ 1.3 (ELM-free) at the design shape. If the G1 confinement testbed measures confinement below the level the design needs, the machine must be re-sized along a stated fallback — which would materially worsen the economics. Kronos says so openly.
What's the single most consequential test?
The confinement requirement (H98 = 1.84), verified first by nonlinear gyrokinetics and then at G1. It is the largest bet in the program, and the one whose failure would most change the design.
