Ports and major logistics hubs are electrifying fast — providing shore power (cold ironing) so docked ships can switch off their engines, and replacing diesel cranes, yard equipment, and trucks with electric ones. This is turning ports into large, growing electricity consumers with strong reliability needs.

A firm fusion generator could anchor a zero-carbon port: supplying firm clean power for shore power and electrified equipment, reducing the local grid strain that rapid port electrification creates, and providing the DC that much charging equipment uses. Ports also often sit near water, aligning with fusion's siting.
