Fusion & the Electrification of Everything

Electrifying transport, heat, and industry will multiply electricity demand — and much of that new demand needs to be firm and clean. That's fusion's market.

Trend
Electrify transport, heat, industry
Effect
Electricity demand grows 2–3×
Requirement
Much of it firm and clean
Fusion role
Firm clean supply for the new load

Decarbonizing the economy largely means electrifying it — replacing gasoline cars with EVs, gas furnaces with heat pumps, and fossil-fired industry with electric processes. Done fully, that could multiply electricity demand two- to threefold. And much of the new demand is firm: EV charging, industrial heat, and data centers don't pause for the weather.

That reframes fusion's opportunity. It isn't competing for today's electricity market — it's aimed at the vast new firm clean demand that electrification creates, on top of replacing existing fossil baseload. As every sector plugs in, the need for firm, zero-carbon generation grows with it.

Kronos designs MetroVolt for exactly that firm role, across the sectors electrification touches — the grid, data centers, industry, and hydrogen. See fusion & decarbonization.
