Systems and methods for breeding tritium and transmutation of nuclear waste are disclosed. Exemplary implementations may include supplying a high-intensity beam of fast moving protons; bombarding a first target with the high-intensity beam of fast moving protons; creating a steady stream of neutrons through neutron spallation; and bombarding a second target with the steady stream of neutrons to create tritium.
