MetroVolt 2026 Canon Freezes the Commercial Design Point
2026-07-01T00:00:00Z — Kronos Fusion Energy
The MetroVolt commercial generator design point is frozen for the 2026 canon: R0 = 5.75 m major radius, A = 2 aspect ratio, kappa = 2.56 elongation, B_peak = 24.6 T on-axis peak field (24.4 T demonstrated single-coil), P_fus = 2.41 GW fusion power, and net electric output 0.61–0.84 GWe per unit.
The Mode-C design point is now the reference configuration for all Kronos engineering, cost, and program communications. A single MetroVolt unit produces 0.61–0.84 GWe net electric from 2.41 GW fusion power. A three-unit station is approximately 1.8–2.5 GWe. Direct energy conversion runs at blended efficiency approximately 0.586 (target ≥ 0.55, prediction P5). The published LCOE ladder is FOAK $84–92 → NOAK $48–84 → fleet $48–56/MWh.
