Low-Neutron Staged Fuel Strategy: Stage 0 → Stage 4
2026-06-18T00:00:00Z — Kronos Fusion Energy
Kronos formalizes its low-neutron staged fuel program: Stage 0 D–T commissioning, Stage 1 catalysed D-rich (80:20 → 85:15) as the commercial baseline, Stage 2 3He-rich D–3He, and a gated p–11B aneutronic endpoint at Stage 4.
The commercial baseline for MetroVolt is Stage 1: catalysed D-rich (80:20 → 85:15) operation, delivering fn approximately 5.25 percent — an order-of-magnitude reduction in neutron loading versus pure D–T while retaining ignition margin. Stage 2 (3He-rich D–3He) and the gated p–11B aneutronic endpoint (Stage 4) are staged behind explicit engineering gates. Seven falsifiable predictions (P1–P7) govern gate passage.
