What does 'low-neutron' mean?

Low-neutron means most of the fusion energy emerges as charged particles, not neutrons. Kronos's neutron fraction is ~5.25% — about 25× below deuterium–tritium.

What does Kronos mean by 'low-neutron'?
That only a small fraction of the fusion energy is carried by neutrons — about 5.25% at the Kronos design point, versus roughly 80% for a deuterium–tritium plant. Most of the energy instead emerges as charged particles, which can be captured directly as electricity.
Is 'low-neutron' the same as 'aneutronic'?
No, and Kronos is careful about the difference. 'Aneutronic' means no neutrons at all; 'low-neutron' means few. Because side deuterium–deuterium reactions produce some neutrons, a real D–³He plant is low-neutron, not aneutronic. Only the gated p–¹¹B endpoint is truly aneutronic.
Why does the label matter?
Precision is credibility. Overstating neutron performance is a common way fusion claims lose trust; 'low-neutron' is accurate and still a major advantage.
