Between the direct-energy converter and the customer sits the power-electronics stage — the system that turns the converter's raw DC output into usable, grid-compliant power.
For the AC grid, power electronics condition and invert the DC to synchronize with grid frequency and voltage. For DC loads — data centers, electrolyzers, EV chargers — the DC can be delivered more directly, skipping conversion stages that a turbine plant's AC output would require. The same electronics also let the plant provide grid stability services (frequency and voltage support, reserve), which a high-renewables grid increasingly must procure.
