A digital twin is a physics-based simulation of the plant that runs live, in step with the real machine, continuously updated by sensor data. Because it computes what the plasma and hardware are about to do, it gives the control system a 50–100 millisecond head start — enough to act before a developing event actually arrives.
In Kronos MetroVolt the twin sits in the middle of the control stack: it scores incoming diagnostic and structural signals against its prediction, and the rules engine clamps any action to physical limits before an actuator moves. The design is honest that the twin's reconstructions are validated today against simulation; sustained real-machine data at relevant parameters does not yet exist, and the G1 testbed is where the twin first meets reality.
