Is tritium dangerous?
Tritium is radioactive but emits only weak radiation and is managed routinely in industry. Kronos's D–³He design keeps its tritium inventory small.

Is tritium dangerous?
Tritium is radioactive, but it emits only a very weak beta particle that can't penetrate skin — the concern is internal exposure if ingested or inhaled, and it clears the body in weeks. It is handled routinely in industry and research, with well-established containment practice.
How much tritium does a Kronos plant use?
Much less than a D–T plant. Kronos runs deuterium–helium-3, with no breeding blanket and only a small, staged tritium role (commissioning and as a helium-3 precursor). A smaller inventory means a smaller hazard and lighter licensing burden.
How is it managed?
Through containment, the direct-internal-recovery fuel loop, and fuel-processing systems sized to keep the working inventory tight. Kronos treats tritium as an engineering-controlled hazard, not an accident-scale risk.
