About the Role

Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities:

- Responsible for the design, development, and fabrication of mechanical components and subsystems, within the context of developing, designing and fabricating complex diagnostic systems for fusion applications and others.
- Independently perform challenging engineering work, perform trade studies, and support test activities.
- Documents findings, communicates results to engineering staff, management and customer through technical presentations and reports.
- Designs, develops, and tests all aspects of mechanical components, subsystems and equipment.
- Supports the design by performing structural and thermal analysis and present the results.
- Initiates the planning of engineering projects and develops designs or modifications in order to meet project goals.
- Define functional, performance, interface, derived, etc. of system level engineering requirements, including environmental definition and flow down to subsystems.
- Identify critical requirements and develop risk reduction plans.
- Troubleshoots conflicting design/development requirements and difficult coordination requirements.
- Purchases, fabricates, and tests prototype diagnostic components and subsystems.
- Work within a multidisciplinary team environment, and be able to work well in a diverse group with varying skill sets.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
