Konstantin Batygin

FOUNDING PARTNER + BOARD MEMBER, Pure Mathematics - Physics

Konstantin Batygin is a Board Advisor at Kronos Fusion Energy, providing oversight to Pure Mathematics and Physics. As an American astronomer and Professor of Planetary Sciences at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), he brings extensive knowledge and expertise in astrophysics and planetary science to the team.


Batygin earned his B.S. degree in Astrophysics from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 2008, winning the Loren Steck Award for his thesis, "The Dynamical Stability of the Solar System." He then continued his education at Caltech, obtaining his M.S. degree in Planetary Astronomy and Science in 2010, followed by a Ph.D. in the same field in 2012.


After completing his doctoral studies, Batygin held a post-doctoral fellowship at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Boston, MA, from 2012 to 2014. He then returned to Caltech as a professor in June 2014, where he continues to contribute to the field of planetary science. In addition to his academic roles, Batygin co-founded Lucinetic in February 2021 and serves as a visiting scientist at the Observatoire de la Côte d'Azur in Nice, France.


With his strong background in astrophysics, planetary science, and mathematics, Konstantin Batygin provides valuable insights and guidance to Kronos Fusion Energy as they work towards developing innovative fusion energy solutions.
